Lauren Wai Ying Ma, OD, is an Optometrist at Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. She began her journey in vision care at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Minor in Accounting. She went on to pursue her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry.

During her optometry training, one of the highlights of Dr. Wai Ying Ma’s experience was traveling to Barbados through Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). There, she and her team provided free eye exams to 1,833 patients over four clinic days. Following graduation, she completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Vision Rehabilitation at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, where she was also born and raised.

Dr. Wai Ying Ma’s training also included rotations in busy clinical settings in Chicago, Minneapolis, and the California Bay Area, where she worked with a wide variety of patient populations. Through these experiences, she gained extensive knowledge in ocular diseases, low vision, and specialty contact lenses.

Passionate about serving others, Dr. Wai Ying Ma values building meaningful one-on-one relationships with her patients and colleagues. She is committed to interprofessional collaboration and lifelong learning in order to provide high-quality care for all. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
