
Sobia Nawaz, MD, is a Pediatrician at Clinicas del Camino Real, Inc. Dr. Nawaz earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan, before completing her Pediatric Residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, New York. During her residency, Dr. Nawaz trained across four major hospitals, including SUNY Downstate Hospital, Kings County Hospital, Coney Island Hospital, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. These experiences provided her with significant exposure to ambulatory, emergency, inpatient, neonatal, and critical care pediatrics.
Dr. Nawaz’s clinical experience also extends internationally. She served as a Medical Officer in the Department of OB/GYN at Munawwar Hospital in Faisalabad, Pakistan, and completed internships at Mayo Hospital in Lahore, Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, and Combined Military Hospital in Lahore. She further expanded her pediatric training at the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital, where she gained exposure to Pediatric GI, Neonatal ICU, and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Nawaz has been actively involved in research and quality improvement projects, including initiatives to improve delivery room resuscitation outcomes, infant formula preparation practices, and asthma care protocols in pediatric emergency settings. She has earned distinctions in Biochemistry and Forensic Medicine and has been recognized for her leadership as a student representative at King Edward Medical University.
Dr. Nawaz is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), and the Committee of Interns and Residents at Kings County Hospital. She is passionate about patient advocacy, social welfare, and providing high-quality, compassionate care to children and their families.
As a general Pediatrician, Dr. Nawaz’s approach is to guide parents through each and every step through parenthood and to provide well-rounded emotional and medical support. She believes in preventative care and an overall health lifestyle.
