According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since 2021, about 6.5% of children in the U.S. have asthma. Childhood asthma is similar to adult asthma. However, children may have different experiences. Environmental factors like pollen or infections can trigger asthma. These triggers cause inflammation in the lungs and airways. This makes it harder for children to breathe.
